DevOps means automating the path from code to production: every change is tested, checked and deployed the same way, with the ability to roll back within minutes. ITEmpire Group sets up these pipelines for the applications it builds and for its clients’ existing projects.

The problems we solve

  • Manual, stressful releases that sometimes break the website.
  • Differences between the development environment and production.
  • No alert when the site goes down or a certificate expires.
  • Dependencies never updated and known vulnerabilities left unpatched.
  • No clear procedure to restore service after an incident.

What we set up

  • Containerisation with Docker: the same image, built once, moves from staging to production.
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions): linting, unit and end-to-end tests and builds on every change.
  • Automated security checks: dependency audit, secret detection, static analysis and image scanning.
  • Separate environments: staging then production, with distinct, protected secrets.
  • Controlled deployments: manual approval for production, a health check after every release and automatic rollback to the previous version on failure.
  • Monitoring: availability, response time, errors, disk space and certificate expiry, with alerts.
  • Backups and restore procedures, documented and tested.

A concrete example: our own website

The website you are reading is delivered by this kind of pipeline: every change goes through quality and security checks, a single build, automated tests on desktop, tablet and mobile, then a scanned Docker image. Staging is deployed automatically and production after approval, with a health check and automatic rollback.

Our approach

  1. AuditCode, hosting, current deployment method, risks and priorities.
  2. PlanFixes ranked by severity and a target architecture that fits your budget.
  3. ImplementationContainers, pipeline, environments, secrets and monitoring.
  4. ValidationDeployment and rollback tested in staging before production.
  5. HandoverOperations documentation and training for your team, or maintenance by us.

Costs and timelines

The budget depends on the state of the existing project (tests, documentation), the number of applications and environments, the hosting (dedicated server, VPS or cloud) and the level of monitoring expected. These practices strengthen reliability and security, but they do not replace a security audit or a certification. Every engagement is quoted individually.

Are your releases manual or risky? Describe your application and hosting: we propose an audit and an action plan.

Frequently asked questions

How do you set up a CI/CD pipeline?

By automating, in order: reproducible dependency installation, quality checks, tests, a single build, security checks, deployment to staging, verification, then deployment to production with the ability to roll back. We adapt each step to your application and your hosting.

How do you automate software testing?

With unit tests on business rules, integration tests on the exchanges between components and end-to-end tests that simulate a user in a browser. They run on every change in the pipeline, which blocks the release if they fail.

What happens if a release fails?

A health check runs after every deployment; if it fails, the previous version is restarted automatically. A manual rollback also remains possible at any time.

Should you move to the cloud?

Not necessarily. A well-configured VPS suits many websites and applications; the cloud is justified for scaling, high availability or managed services. We compare the options with you, running costs included.

How do you keep an application running in production?

Monitoring and alerts, regular dependency updates, security patches, tested backups and documented incident procedures.
